Sponsorship & Communication Coordinator

 

Position Summary

 

The Sponsorship & Communication Coordinator will be responsible for leading Bless the Children’s child and staff sponsorship program and will oversee ministry communications to the broader BTCM network. S/he will focus on building long-term Christ-centered relationships between sponsors, Ugandan staff, and children. To be successful, the candidate must be relationally driven, adaptable, and a self-starter who deeply resonates with our mission.

 

Location: Remote employee with travel to Uganda

Reports to: US Executive Director

Category: Non-exempt, full-time, self-funded salary

Job Duties & Responsibilities

Child and Staff Sponsorship

  • Oversee the recruitment, engagement, and retention of current & prospective sponsors (individuals and churches); connecting them deeper into BTCM through missions, volunteering, giving, and praying.

  • Foster Christ centered relationships between sponsors, children, and UG staff through letter writing, gift campaigns (twice/year), and communicating life updates with sponsors. 

  • Continually research best practices in sponsorship programs, evaluate current practices, and champion appropriate changes.

  • Oversee sponsorship administration, including updating child information, payment information, canceling/enrolling sponsorships, new sponsor processes, providing sponsorship reports, and answering inquiries.

 

Sponsorship and Ministry Communication

  • In coordination with senior leadership, develop an annual BTCM’s communications plan and manage from implementation through evaluation.

  • Coordinate the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print materials (brochures, newsletters, sponsorship information) and digital content (photos, videos, stories) for social media, website, email, and mail.

  • Oversee social media engagement and email communications to the broader BTCM constituency.

  • Coordinate webpage maintenance and ensure that new and consistent information (sponsorship updates, stories, and events) is posted regularly.

Personal Support Raising & Leadership Development

  • Raise financial support and steward supporter relationships by communicating ministry updates and progress.  

  • Commit to leadership development that cultivates a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, reflection, prayer and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.

 

Other Duties

  • Assist in coordinating Ugandan travel to the United States for engagement opportunities and speaking events, ensuring their time is used to strategically steward our mission.

  • Assist in developing US based volunteer and internship opportunities.

  • Assist in the coordination of BTCM’s annual celebration dinner in Tulsa, OK.

 

Qualifications

 

Above all things, you must have a personal relationship with Jesus, value the people over projects, and are able to constantly lead others to higher standards of care and intimacy with Christ.

  • A passionate commitment to BTCM’s mission.

  • Demonstrated lifestyle embodying Bless the Children’s core values.

  • Strategic thinker with a track record of taking initiative.

  • Strong organization skills including effective time management.

  • Technologically savvy with experience using social media platforms and CRM’s.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills that welcomes others & exudes warmth. 

  • Excellent oral, written, and public communication skills. Ability to comfortably tell Bless the Children’s story to engage audiences.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; master’s degree is a plus

  • International experience and cross-cultural experience preferred.
