Teams are in the process of forming. Please email marsha@btcm.org as soon as possible  in order to secure a spot on a mission team.  Those outside of Tulsa may join as well, and will be conference called into team meetings.

Bless the Children Ministries’ desire is to be the love of Christ to Uganda’s orphaned and vulnerable children, equipping them to become authentic Godly leaders that transform generations.  In line with this vision is our heart to bring American Christians on mission trips to invest in the spiritual growth of our children. We have seen the Americans’ faith grow and be challenged like never before as they
show the love of Christ to our children. During these trips, we see our children filled with hope, grow in their spiritual journey, and experience the individual affection and attention they so desperately need.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • *Is Uganda safe? Traveling to a foreign country always comes with risk.  However, we do everything possible to minimize this risk and Uganda has been a stable country for many years and is very welcoming of Americans because of all the aid we have given through the years.  BTCM has a very good reputation in Mabaale and the community supports and watches out for us when we are there.  In addition, we have a security on our fenced campus at all times. We will have filtered water and our food will be prepared very carefully, in addition we never travel in the dark. We always register with the embassy and purchase emergency insurance for extra protect.

  • *How do we get there? Traveling to our little village in Uganda is just plain hard! It takes a domestic flight, plus two 8 hour flights, then a 6 hour drive.  There is no way around this travel- it is long and difficult, sometimes there are long layovers and sometimes luggage is lost.  However, I promise everyone who has every gone says it is worth it, and when you get there you forget all about how hard it was!

  • *What is the time difference? Uganda is 8 hours ahead of the USA you will experience jet lag- drinking water and melatonin can help, but you will be amazing how quickly your body will adjust after the first 24 hours.

  • *Can I fundraise? Yes, but you need to start now! All trip donations are tax-deductible.  Team members have had great success in the past mailing support letters or calling/emailing friends and family and asking them to partner with them financial for the trip. In addition, you can do a garage sell or any other fundraiser you desire to setup.  You must still meet all funding deadlines, so if you are going to fundraise you need to start as soon as possible. I will send a separate email with all fundraising information.

  • *Can I pay online? Yes, you can pay on our online donation system.  We can also add your name to this system and you can email a link to friends and family who wish to support you as an option to pay.

  • Will I get time to spend with my sponsor child? Yes, we will setup as much time as possible and you desire for you to spend with your sponsor child.  Sometimes the children are shy at first meetings, but they love visiting with you.  You can also pack an extra gift for them, however, try and keep it small (an outfit, small toy, jewelry, school supplies, etc.). You can ask Marsha Baker for specific ideas for her child.

  • *Will I need shots? Yes you must have your basic immunizations as well as the Yellow Fever and Typhoid vaccinations to travel to Uganda. In addition, you will need to get malaria prevention medication from you Primary Care doctor- we will talk more about these things at our meetings.
